Anthony R Page Executive Produces a New Show Titled: Urban Expressionism with Elements of Spoken Word, Theater & Performance Art

AUGUSTA. Anthony R. Page through his company Blue Bistro Creative will executive produce a multi-genre performance event titled: Urban Expressionism. The event will take place on November 19th at 730pm at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center in Evans, GA.

The show is an exploration of Black Culture through live theater, spoken word poetry, photography, music as well as performance art. The show centers around "What we see," " What we hear," "What we feel," and "What we remember" as Black people living in America.

Page stated, "Every member of our team has been impacted in some way by the "Black Lives Matter" movement. This inspired us as a company to create Urban Expressionism. which was developed to give our team a healthy means to lift their voices. Of course, we decided to do it in a way that we know best, through our creative talents. So this show will help us to see, hear, feel and reflect on our experiences and hopefully create a conversation toward healthy outcomes for our community. Furthermore, with the collection of creative elements we have brought together, Urban Expressionism will have a high degree of entertainment value."

MORE ABOUT URBAN EXPRESSIONISM

The show will be presented in three creative movements:

Movement 1: L! leagues - - is a poetry presentation built around the real-life issues facing Black America - - the good, the bad and the ugly will be highlighted in an unapologetically poetic tone.

This segment of the show will be hosted and produced by Spoken Word Artist: Sa Jules and features spoken word artists: Passionate (Chashawna Wesby), N-8 (Nathan Ivey), and Most Elevated Deepness (Vanessa Harris).

Movement 2: Crisis and Courage - - is a testimonial account of Dr. La'Veda Wallace-Page's life living with Sickle Cell Disease. As the name substantiates, this chronicle narrates the struggle and demonstrates her faith and will of spirit.

This segment of the show will be hosted and produced by Dr. La'Veda Wallace-Page and includes a series of soliloquies performed by Mary SumpterDeja GreenSamantha Tarte, and Olaundra Grace

Movement 3:  The Blue Series - - This segment of the show will be presented by Anthony R Page and is a series of original stage plays.

The first will be a one-act stage play titled: The Commitment written and directed by Anthony R. Page. The cast includes Victor Corley, Kiara Heffner, and Shanice Dixon.

The second stage play will be a special preview of the ground-breaking new work: Somewhere in Summerville written and directed by Anthony R. Page. The cast includes Nathan Rothwell, Olaundra Grace, Kiara Heffner, Victor Corley, Demetrio Fray, Will Cummings, and Deja Green.

URBAN EXPRESSIONISM ADDED VALUE:

Another element of the show is built around notable photographers Ge Holla, David Linson II, Jabari Dawson, Micheal Merles, and Anthony R Page. Each will produce a series of re-imagined photographs of iconic moments in American History. These photos will be a part of a social media campaign that offers a visual commentary on American history.

We have also established a working relationship with the Shepeard Community Blood Center. Through a special community outreach initiative, we will host a blood drive on October 27th from 9am to 1pm. The drive will take place at their Augusta facility located at 1533 Wrightsboro Road in the midtown medical district.

Page states, "this is of special significance to our group, because my wife La'Veda has received more than 200 units of blood-related to sickle cell disease. Many people have given to make it available for her, so we want to 'give' to make sure it will be available for others." La'Veda has already been a part of the organization's outreach. They included her story as a part of their promotions and her picture is on one of their bloodmobiles.

More details on this outreach initiative will be forthcoming. To learn more about Shepeard Community Blood Center visit their site at: Shepeardblood.org

We have also taken this opportunity through Urban Expressionism to involve the youth within our community. Consequently, earlier this year we launched the Axis- Film, TV & Theater Apprenticeship Program, which is a professional development program geared towards students who have an interest in film, television, or theater as a career. The program leverages the skills, talents, and experiences of the entire Blue Bistro Creative team and mentors students in every aspect of the business. There is some classroom work, but most of the program is built around hands-on experience.

Based on each student's readiness and ambition, we place them strategically in productions so they can begin to explore their interests in the industry; build competitive skills as well as add value to the productions they work on.

Urban Expressionism marks the first occasion where many of our students will obtain practical experience and be an integral support to production. The recruitment is ongoing and success in the program is self-paced with the support of our team of professionals.
