Atlanta, GA, Studio Blue Acting Conservatory is thrilled to bring you Ancestral Accents, a captivating theatrical series that showcases a blend of renowned and lesser-known black leaders throughout the African diaspora, spanning diverse historical epochs.

The live experience will take place on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. at the Fulton County Central Library, located at One Margaret Mitchell Square, Atlanta, GA 30303.

This installment of Ancestral Accents features 2 dynamic actresses delivering powerful performances:

Actress Cheryl Evette Booker will be honoring Queen Nzinga MBandi and Clara Brown.
  • Queen Nzinga MBandi was an African ruler who ruled as queen of the Ambundu Kingdoms of Ndongo (1624–1663) which is present-day northern Angola.
  • Clara Brown was the first known black woman to cross the plains during the Gold Rush and established the first laundry. An abolitionist, she was also instrumental in helping newly freed enslaved people to relocate to Colorado.

Actress Patrice Hrabowskie will be honoring Ndate Yalla Mbodj and Bessie Coleman.
  • Queen Ndate Yalla Mbodj was the Queen of Waalo in what is now northwest Senegal.  She was instrumental in leading the resistance against the colonization of Senegal by the French.
  • Bessie Coleman is the first African-American woman to hold a pilot license.  She was also the first Black person to earn an international pilot’s license.

Yetunde Jude, a contributing producer, underscores the creative genius and visionary nature of Executive Producer Anthony R. Page, with Ancestral Accents serving as tangible proof. “The project serves as an enduring reminder of the intrinsic strength of individuals of African descent, highlighting the resilience they have consistently displayed in the challenging contexts of colonization and slavery. Ancestral Accent brings the narratives of our ancestors to life, providing a real-time experience of their essence.”

Ancestral Accent is family-friendly and great for all ages.
