This is a screenshot from our short film  Men In My Bed based on a book by Mercuries Ryzen This image features actors Joseph James (left) and L'Raven Rouse (right). Growing up in the 1970s, I spent a lot of time in our backyard building worlds with sticks, stones, sand, and lots of imagination. However, on rainy days, I was often on the floor coloring. With broken bits of crayon and colored pencils, I would whip out my coloring books and imagine a way to make the picture look good. Today, I am still coloring. In the world of filmmaking, once I edit a film for story, emotion, and rhythm, I move to the phase of coloring in the image. This process of production is called color-grading. Essentially, I adjust the image to match the mood I want to create for the moment.  This series was shot in the Vine City community in downtown Atlanta. Joseph plays the character Billy and L'Raven is Lina Mae, one of his many love interests. Using color-grading software, I can adjust brightn...

HERE'S TO YOU IN '22 Here's to you having the best year possible.   May the people in your life bring love, laughter and many moments of awe. May your presence in their lives be balanced, validating and trans-formative.  I hope you find healing in the areas of your life that have been painful. Know that we all have parts of our lives where peace can be elusive. Find comfort in knowing that you are not alone. Whatever it is / was just know that it is and will be ok. Forgive them and yourself, and do not forget as there is wisdom in remembering.  People come, people go. Opportunities come, opportunities go. May your heart be full when they come and may your heart be full when they go. The door that is yours will always be open.  I pray that you make the commitment and find the courage to do “THAT” thing you have been hoping to do for a while. Find the necessity of your now, be present and be available.  Individually and collectively, we have had many convers...

MY FIRST BILLBOARD DESIGN... During the HAPA Awards activity, I developed (in-house) promotional materials to highlight our involvement in the ceremony as well as to ensure that each member of our team received proper acknowledgments for our collective accomplishments.  We were fortunate to have several projects nominated including REMEMBERING MOMMA, ARMED AND DANGEROUS, and THE CONDUIT...all short films we produced.  The HAPA Executive team was so pleased with what I had done, that they asked me to develop some post-show promotional materials, including billboards. Here are a few of the billboards I designed for them. They will be featured in the Los Angeles area.  This is a cool and unexpected milestone for me because I am a director, producer, and writer. I developed skills as a graphic designer to make sure my projects were best represented visually to the public, and now the demand for my design talents has grown beyond my in-house needs.   I will close by ...
