I Live With A Gladiator - - The Sickle Siren

What have I learned…well first off the “X-factor” in everything is “people,” when I say people I mean their promoted passions; their inherited or self-determined purpose, and of course the manifestation of their power and how it is used… “for or against “…more on this a bit later. Sickle Cell Crisis and Courage For several years I've watched my wife meet the challenge of living with Sickle Cell Anemia. Forever a private person, she didn't often share the depth and breadth of her struggle. As for me, I didn't know much about it - - I had read a few things, heard a few things but never witnessed its wrath up close and personal…and believe me “wrath” is not a dramatic word - - Sickle Cell Anemia, is no joke.  One night I saw her in a “real crisis” and it changed me…. Ya see I am (was) the fixer but the emotional state that comes with not being able to “fix this” left me feeling utterly helpless. Unfortunately, that wasn't the last time I saw her in a stru

I Was Homeless For A Few Hours…

Car after car drove by and I held up my sign… I’m A Vet… I Fought for You, Now Fight for Me…Support the Arts Some honked their horns, and others sped past me. A few laughed and shook their heads and still others slowed down to get a closer look. For those few hours as I lay on the ground by the 5 th Street Bridge, I was homeless.  I then begin to

I’m a Slave, I’m Schizophrenic, a Burnt-out Musician and an Unknown

2013 is shaping up to be a career-defining year for me. I have committed to several projects I believe will take advantage of my best talents. Each film is distinctively creative and allows me to work with some really fantastic professionals.  The test shot was done by Carolyn Slay As it stands now, I will be producing several; I’m acting in a few; doing some writing on a couple of others, and directing one.  I will be sure to keep you posted as these projects mature. Although I’m excited about all that’s on the horizon, my initial foray into the world of film and theater was as an actor. Throughout my life I've been drawn to interesting personalities (many of which are in my family)…and in that context, I guess it all makes sense. Nevertheless, several roles are coming up for which I have begun preparation. I’m a Slave, I’m Schizophrenic, a Burnt-out Musician, and the best way to describe this last character is as an Unknown.  It's time to put in work and I am
