My First Billboard - HAPA Awards Post Show Promos

Image
MY FIRST BILLBOARD DESIGN... During the HAPA Awards activity, I developed (in-house) promotional materials to highlight our involvement in the ceremony as well as to ensure that each member of our team received proper acknowledgments for our collective accomplishments.  We were fortunate to have several projects nominated including REMEMBERING MOMMA, ARMED AND DANGEROUS, and THE CONDUIT...all short films we produced.  The HAPA Executive team was so pleased with what I had done, that they asked me to develop some post-show promotional materials, including billboards. Here are a few of the billboards I designed for them. They will be featured in the Los Angeles area.  This is a cool and unexpected milestone for me because I am a director, producer, and writer. I developed skills as a graphic designer to make sure my projects were best represented visually to the public, and now the demand for my design talents has grown beyond my in-house needs.   I will close by saying that this is unex

Looking at this picture, I think of the man I was at that time in my life, filled with youth and vigor, naivete, yet maturing emotionally and spiritually...it was the beginnings of my journey as an actor. The initial steps toward breaking some generational patterns, although I did not know it at the time. Something deep inside of me compelled me to move forward and I jumped in with both feet, not knowing what I was getting myself into.  It was 1993 and that December I went on my first audition and got the part. I was bit by the bug as they say, I was sprung,  I took the leap.  I decided in that moment that this is what I was going to do with my life. I spent years in acting classes, getting better and better, growing, not always gracefully but nevertheless moving and at times falling forward. I had great ambitions, hopes and dreams of what success would mean for myself and my family.  Along the way I faced a lot of rejection, its par for the course. No actor is going to get every role

Her debut song: Amnesia is an autobiographical testament to her strength, resilience, and the courage to live your best life. She wrote and arranged the song and sings it beautifully. I would like to thank all of the cast and crew for making this video come to life, most especially my DP: Itzel “Izzy” Fernandez, and my grip/lighting specialist Mario Falu . Image
What fatherhood means to me... I know that they are watching me...what am I showing them? I know that when I tell them to do something, I have to do that too... I know that they are gonna discover things about themselves as they understand things about me... Commitment is not about words, but action...I am committed to constantly working to live at my best and that includes continuing to learn and improve myself,  so in addition to the leadership classes I'm taking thru HARVARD UNIVERSITY's  online program, I also signed up for a specialized industry certification through NYU , which will help me to build skills to operate in the film and television industry at the highest levels... I'm determined to change the conversation for my family for many generations to come...one day at a time. My 3 kids and soon to be 7 grandkids are a huge "WHY" for me...I love them in ways that often brings me to tears...fatherhood, and feeling that deep can be overwhelming in that way
