Divine Intelligence - - Photography & Design Project

I had the privilege of working with Kiara Iman and Deja Green, who were students from Davidson Fine Arts High School, which is a Grammy award-winning magnet school in Augusta, GA.

They were both a part of the final preview of Somewhere in Summerville at the Jabez Hardin Sanford Performing Arts Center in Evans, GA. Even though they were the youngest members of the cast, they exhibited the commitment and maturity of more seasoned professionals. Each of them had scene-stealing, crowd-pleasing moments and added a great deal of substance to the overall show.

In addition to their ambitions as actors, both were also developing their musical talents and had formed a trio called Divine Intelligence. Along with their co-collaborator Hip Hop Artist: Jiggy Bril, they blended a unique combination of rap, spoken word, and song.

Kiara sang and played the keys to set the tone; Jiggy played a hand drum between his rhythmic rap interludes and Deja added context with movement (and yes she also dances) as well as poignant and poetic spoken word narratives about Black life in America. The final product was unique, ground-breaking, and wrought with aesthetic excellence and social relevance.

I was so inspired by the group, that I wanted to contribute in a meaningful way. So along with mentoring and coaching them on how to develop creatively, I elected to donate a photo session to the group to help them along.

I wanted to capture their individual personalities, artistic signature, and youthful exuberance. These are a few select images from that session.

I suspect the world will soon embrace its brand of creative excellence. My prayer is that they keep the wind beneath their wings and keep flying. Blue Bistro Creative will continue to support them...always, lifting as We Climb. - - Anthony R Page
