The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Will Host a Special Screening of Remembering Momma in New York

Film Series Will Feature Works by Black Filmmakers during Black History Month

(Bronx, NY) To highlight the talent of up-and-coming Black filmmakers, the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Rho Psi Lambda Chapter (Bronx, NY) will host a series of films that showcase the visions, thoughts, and ideas of creative Black screenwriters, directors, and actors. These films will be shown during February and broadcast to an array of members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

Films will be shown on Wednesdays, during Black History Month, beginning February 1, 2023, and ending February 22, 2023, via the Zoom platform. The start time will be 7pm and end at 9pm.
Remembering Momma, by Atlanta-based filmmaker Anthony R. Page, will be one of the featured films screening on February 1st with a Q & A following the viewing.

The film stars Meki Mac, Wes Lee, Amber Reign, and Semaj Cottle; supported by a strong ensemble cast that includes Kenisha Johnson, Tarik Garrett, Amy Christine, and Kimberly Raven. Niya Davis, Angel L. Henderson, Nathan Rothwell, and Tisa Key round out the cast.

In the film, Ladybug's identity begins to deteriorate due to early-onset Alzheimer's Disease; which has a profound effect on the middle-aged artist's life with her family.

The film was written and directed by Anthony R. Page and co-produced by Alahna Lark
through Lark Media. Alahna's most recent project is an Emmy-nominated, three-time Telly Award-winning short film titled: Made In America.

The film received various awards and accolades, including an award for BEST SHORT FILM during the 2021 HAPA Awards in Los Angeles and a JURY AWARD for BEST SHORT FILM at the International Black and Diversity Film Festival in Toronto, Canada.

The film was also nominated as BEST SHORT FILM at the Summer in The South Film Festival and was a finalist in JARO Short Film Competition during the Peachtree Village International Film Festival, both in Atlanta.
