New Georgia-based Non-Profit Established to Amplify Excellence and Accelerate Opportunity For Black Professionals in The Film and Television Industry

The Black Entertainment Economic Council Established
To Support Increased Equity and Inclusion In the Entertainment Industry

(ATLANTA, GA) The Black Entertainment Economic Council (BEEC) is a dynamic non-profit organization whose mission is to increase representation and opportunities for Black professionals and businesses in the film, television, gaming, and digital production industries, both in front of and behind the camera.

On June 3rd - from 10 AM to 5 PM, we will host an Open House & Member Showcase at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurship, at 504 Fair Street, in the West End cultural corridor. There will be a showcase of films, free workshops, and opportunities to engage with a variety of professionals working in all aspects of the industry.

Adiclere Evans, one of the founders of our organization extends a special invite, “We want to encourage people from all over the metro area to connect with us. It will be great for them to learn more about how films actually get made and meet some of the people who actually make them. We have so many gifted voices in our community crafting all kinds of stories for all kinds of audiences. Some are working on these big-budget Hollywood films and others are blazing their own trails as independent filmmakers. They are all making important contributions to the culture, so stop by and hang out with us for a bit.”

This industry expo is part of a series of activities in our year-long impact campaign. Other upcoming activities include interactive film screenings, a youth summer camp, live podcast recordings, a feature film screenwriting competition, and a fellowship for emerging TV writers.

We have a committed community of professionals working on a variety of key objectives

All of our programs and activities center on our operational priorities, which include:
  • Policy & Research
    • Objective: to advocate for policy that best represents the needs and interests of our members and people from a broad spectrum of under-represented communities.
  • Workforce Development
    • Objective: to create targeted career and professional development opportunities, that address dominant work-related needs across every aspect of the industry, and at every stage of knowledge and experience.
  • Business Acceleration
    • Objective: to provide resources for small businesses and vendors to help them achieve the operational readiness required to successfully engage with the industry.
  • Community Engagement
    • Objective: to promote understanding across the diversity that exists throughout our community and the entertainment industry at large.
“We have made a commitment to shaping the future of the industry in a way that is intentional, comprehensive, and adaptive. We will start where we are, use what is available to us and grow as we go.” ~ Anthony R. Page, BEEC Co-Founder

On the 1st Saturday of each month, we host community-building events at the
Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurship from 10 AM to 1 PM.

---------------------

In 2022, productions shooting in Georgia generated $4.4 Billion for the state’s economy. Centered in metro Atlanta, the state's rise to prominence in film production was sparked in many ways by the exponential growth of the hip-hop music industry and the thousands of music videos shot in the 1990s and the 2000's. Today, Atlanta has emerged as one of the most robust production environments in the world.

Even though Black professionals, both in front of and behind the camera, are well-trained and experienced to support the highest-level productions, they often don't have access to opportunities to benefit proportionately from Georgia's unprecedented growth. Accelerating opportunities for this community is the top priority for the Black Entertainment Economic Council.

We invite you to join the conversation.
