New Film MOMMAS to Premiere June 15 on Tubi, Spotlighting the Pain and Power of Black Mothers Confronting Police Violence

Actress and writer Leslie Black steps into the role of Executive Producer with the upcoming release of MOMMAS, a powerful and emotional film set to debut on Tubi on June 15, 2025. Written by Black, the film delves deep into how Black families—especially mothers—are forever altered by the trauma of police violence.

MOMMAS centers on a group of women known as Mothers of Murdered Sons (MOMS) who regularly come together for activism, healing, and mutual support. When a local woman reveals that the District Attorney never filed charges against the officers who killed their sons, Janie, Jill, Sharon, and Cynthia are pushed to their emotional limits. Their pain transforms into urgency—and their unity into action. The film asks: How far will a mother go for justice?

The cast features an ensemble of dynamic talent including:

  • Leslie Black (Fight Night, Chicago Med)

  • Laketa Booker (Doom Patrol, Coming 2 America)

  • Beliria Sims (David Makes Man, Law & Order)

  • Robin Antoinette Johnson (I Got a Story to Tell, You)

  • Taurean Cavins-Flores (The Oval, Wicked City)

Directed by Latasha Johnson, the film also stars Amanda Rosario Glass, Challedon Saltor, James Andrews, Mario Falu, and Claude Couer.

MOMMAS is produced by Anthony R. Page.

This gripping story is more than entertainment—it’s a mirror, a conversation starter, and a tribute to the resilience of mothers who refuse to stay silent.
