Anthony R Page Establishes New Axis Apprenticeship Program for Teens

AUGUSTA / AIKEN. Anthony R Page, through his company Blue Bistro Creative, has set up the Axis - Film, TV & Theater Apprenticeship Program - - which will be a career mentoring opportunity for CSRA students who have an interest in making movies, TV shows, web video content and stage plays.

Conducted in several phases the program is designed for 15 - 25 students and requires a 6 - 12 month commitment. In the program, 7th - 12th-grade students will be trained at a moderate pace in an academic setting and then placed with professionals on actual productions in all of the areas of focus. Most of the learning will be hands-on and as career success is self-paced, the most eager and ambitious students will be given opportunities in specific discipline areas based on their proactive nature and level of commitment.  Axis will be administered by Program Ambassadors: Ashley Blocker and Cierra Mitchell and supported by the company's vast network of production professionals across the southeast.

Mr. Page, who works primarily as a writer, producer, and director has many years of experience in all the areas of production. He said of the program, "I have been inspired by The Black Lives Matter movement and agree that more of us can do what we can to ensure the long-term health and wellness of our community, so this is our way of  making an impact."

Page who previously created the Links to My Legacy mentoring program through his Sister CEO Initiative and the Foundations Student MBA program at the Lucy C. Laney Museum added, "we have put together a solid platform for the students to get a great deal of value from this experience. Furthermore, our culture at Blue Bistro is built around continuous improvement, so we expect it to evolve quickly as we discover means to enhance their overall learning experience."

Community leaders, local production professionals as well as the public at large, recognize that the film, TV, and theater industry is growing and will be an important part of the diversification of the local and regional economies. Consequently, the team at Blue Bistro Creative believes that it's important to begin preparing interested students for careers in this arena.

Building on that understanding, Anthony wrapped up with this, "There are many opportunities for young people to get career mentoring in other career fields, but not as much in film, TV, or theater. We realize that we are filling a void of new career opportunities that are in line with the growth of our industry here in Augusta as well as the growth in scope and scale of production throughout the southeast. For our community to be a consistent part of this emerging industry, we need more depth in skill and talent...we know this will help."
