Lessons & Reflections - - a Journey in Pictures; The Promise in Perseverance

Image
The Promise of Perseverance When you undertake a career as a business owner, there is no guarantee that you will meet with the level of success that you hope for - - even more of a risky life choice is a pursuit of an arts career. You can be very good at what you do and yet find it difficult to reach important life altering, game-changing, financially securing milestones. However, there is a promise in perseverance as well as an audacity in hope. Yet in all decisions wisdom must be applied, goals must be set, and priorities must be in line. These images remind me of those things and solidify my belief that the best is yet to come. Pictured Above  (Top Left) The first image is a shot taken on the set of a short film titled "Keep the Engine Running." The film was written and directed by the Augusta, GA based filmmaker Tim Johnson. I have seen a rough cut of the film and it is superb. Working with people of his caliber remind me that "your talent will make room for y...

Anthony R. Page Directs the Inaugural Stage Play from Achemistry Productions Starring Nathan Rothwell and Olaundra Grace

Image
AUGUSTA. Anthony R. Page has been a long-time collaborator with actors Nathan Rothwell and Olaundra Grace . With several successful productions to their credit, the three have wonderful creative synergy. Electing to develop their own projects, Rothwell and Grace will launch a new production company  Achemistry Productions  with an innovative play series titled: H E Say SHE Say: The Unspoken Conversation . Building on their collaborative history, the team has selected Anthony to direct the production. In the production, the pair of established actors will portray five different characters in a play series that includes five one-act stage plays. To that end, Rothwell and Grace have constructed stories around PTSD, terminal illness, infidelity, divorce, and dating. Each story has its own rhythm, tone, and texture, which was by design as the two actors wanted to challenge themselves to the limit of their creative ability. Page stated,  "I love working ...

Anthony R Page - - Becoming a Complete Professional

Image
I started in the entertainment industry as an actor, however by focus and expertise I am now a producer, director, and writer. Over the years, having been a part of many independent film, TV, and theater projects that were underfunded and understaffed, it seemed par for the course that we were all expected to wear a multitude of hats - - if we were all truly committed to making the best projects possible. On these teams, there was always a unanimous commitment to do what needed to be done, but all too often, when it became difficult people found a way to exit stage left. In a storytelling process that is fully integrated and interdependent, one-piece falling away can have a tremendous impact on the outcome. And everyone else that was a part of that process loses. The result - - no meaningful return on their investment of time and talent nor the validation that comes with a well-executed, completed project. Needless to say, it was frustrating, getting so close to completing great proj...

Photography & Design (MAR - MAY 2017)

Image
This is a selection of our design and photography work over the period. My family and I took an extended trip to the Bahamas for a family wedding. Of course, I have all the cool shots of us on the waterfront and picturesque images of the ocean, but I also took some time to get off the beaten path to explore the island and see it the way the locals see it. These are a few shots from that exploration.  A few years back when I was working with a new playwright on his inaugural play, I met Shay Davis aka Runway Diva Shay. Over the years we kept in touch and she wanted me to help her with some upgrades on her promotional material. These are a few from the collection of works. Part of my time in the Bahamas was for my mother-in-law's wedding. Of course, they asked me to document the experience...1500 photos later, we put together a complete chronicle of their wedding experience. These are a few snapshots.  Coming off 2016 which was filled w...

Anthony R. Page Writes, Produces and Directs the Short Film: The Important Part(s) of Me

Image
Anthony R. Page has written and will direct a short film titled The Important Part(s) of Me . The suspense-filled drama centers around a young woman's mental health condition and the impact it has on her marriage. Tackling a topic that is often taboo in the black community, the 30-minute film stars Beliria Sims as Ne'One Neale and Kenneth "KB" Brown as her husband Glenn. In the film, Ne'One fights to preserve her marriage while going through an individual crisis that has created a state of defiant retrenchment. Despite all of her husband's efforts to connect, she seems to sink deeper into a mental and emotional trough. Over a very short period, her condition worsens, in what can best be described as a psychological civil war. Beliria shared her connection to the character's experience. " I can definitely relate to Ne'One on many levels. Being a mom and a career woman I have been in that place where it feels as though life is pulling me in a ...
