World Premiere Preview: West Comix — A Live Reading & Performance Event at the Alma Film Festival

A Special Festival Presentation | Exclusive Preview

The Alma Film Festival is proud to present a special live preview of West Comix, a bold, genre-defying narrative universe developed by Clifton West, founder and lead visionary of the project.

This exclusive festival presentation features a live reading of the debut episode, paired with performance elements that bring the world of West Comix into the room. Conceived as an immersive preview rather than a traditional screening, the event offers audiences an early encounter with a story universe that blends superhero storytelling, anime-inspired visual language, and emotionally grounded character work.

West Comix is supported by renowned scholar, philosopher, and cultural critic Dr. Cornel West, who serves as a co-owner of the series and appears within the narrative through a character modeled after him—infusing the series with intellectual gravity and moral inquiry.

At the center of West Comix is the Amazing Ninja—a rock-star Ninja vigilante living in constant physical and emotional pain. He is shaped by the unspeakable disdain of violent events from his past and by the burden of his half-vampire son’s demonic possession. The Ninja unknowingly had his only child as a teenager with a Japanese/African-American vampire. Now an adult, his son succumbs to his pernicious vampire nature, yet lacks the ability to fly like other vampires, making him both dangerous and vulnerable.

Driven by heartache, depression, and shame, the Ninja attempts to drown his suffering through drugs and by placing himself in extremely dangerous situations to protect the innocent—often through brutal and punishing confrontations with his adversaries. His manic search for a vampire serum to cure his son propels him into a series of bloody, perplexing, and often admirable encounters.

Though a man of age, the Ninja maintains a youthful appearance due to a unique healing factor that slows the aging process. He possesses enhanced reflexes, agility, and strength, while maintaining an insatiable dedication to training in the ancient, mysterious art of Ninjutsu. A magnetic loner and reluctant heartthrob, he is constantly tempted, knowing that intimacy with the wrong woman can cause disastrous consequences in battle—often forcing him to rely on the Antidote for companionship and energy.

He is occasionally accompanied by a formidable group of enhanced comrades:

  • Doc — Mutant genius professor with vast brain power, including mind reading, memory erasure, and the ability to control people’s actions with his mind
  • Chilling — Mutant capable of lowering the temperature of the air surrounding him, enabling the creation of ice in many forms, including ice-based weapons
  • the Angel — Mutant born with peach-colored wings, possessing enhanced strength, the ability to fly, and the power to temporarily hypnotize through direct eye contact
  • M. Pure — Genius tech Mutant who created a single laptop capable of hacking any computer system known to man; he also possesses an internal body-beat system that, when intensely focused, can cause small earthquakes
  • Antidote — Battle-tested, righteous stripper Mutant with the ability to create pyrokinetic energy, though she struggles to control it; she carries an ice pick and a dense baton

This festival-exclusive live preview introduces West Comix as a performance-driven, multimedia universe—bridging comics, animation, music, and live storytelling—where spectacle is inseparable from emotional consequence.
